WHAT WE DO

Addressing Health Disparities

NorthWay will engage residents in the process of building greater health, provide new affordable health care options, encourage culturally appropriate care models and address community risk factors.

2006-08 Phase II Activities
NorthWay’s Board has identified three priority initiatives in this area to involve low-income residents in developing comprehensive community health strategies.
•  To develop relationships with agencies already reaching low-income residents earning less than $20,000 to encourage their participation in health policy discussions.
•  To train low-income residents to participate in health policy discussions.
•  To work with partner organizations to engage low-income residents in developing comprehensive community health strategies.

As a lower priority initiative, NorthWay wants:
•  To identify national best-practices for designing health services and policies that effectively serve low-income residents.
