| Northside Arts Collective is in the planning stages of a silent auction to be held in March. The call is going out to friends and members to help plan the event and donate art work and items for a silent auction. Volunteers will be needed to plan the event. March 20th has been tentatively selected for this first fundraising auction. It promises to be an event full of art, music and fun! There are now vacancies on several working committees, and the board of directors. Northside Arts Collective is looking forward to changes. Members on committees and the board will help with this transition and aid in developing a future strategic vision. Planning is underway for the Spring Art Party at Harrison Park on June 5th and work will begin very soon on the new resource catalog. Harrison Neighborhood Association partners with NAC for the Spring Arts Party. info@nacarts.organd www.nacarts.org |

Hennepin County is studying train storage for the Target Field intermodal station. Northstar, Duluth and Amtrak passenger lines will be bringing thousands to the Field. The property just north of Highway 394 and east of Fremont Avenue—soon to be renamed VanWhite Boulevard—is of particular interest to the county. This land has been under the charge of the Bassett's Creek Redevelopment Oversight Committee (ROC) and its use will have significant impact on the future of the surrounding area. The ROC was commissioned by the mayor's office to promote and oversee the redevelopment in Bassett's Creek Valley. | Parking trains on this property could make the area difficult to develop. As a compromise, ROC has suggested they may support the train storage if there is a parking facility built over the train yard that would serve as a platform for large scale development. The neighborhood has dubbed the structure Ramp D. Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin at a ROC meeting, Tues, Feb. 16, assured the neighborhoods that Hennepin County will work with the ROC to reach a mutually satisfactory outcome. |

The educational achievement gap begins long before kindergarten. It starts in the womb. NAZ provides a connected stream of effective services that directly impact a child’s education. These services meet the needs at all stages of development, from timely pre-natal care and pre-school screenings, to extended learning time through quality in-school and out-of-school programs. The Zone’s pilot schools will implement researched and proven educational strategies. The NAZ collaboration includes public, charter, private, contract alternative, and parochial K-12 schools. Ten schools have committed to become NAZ Pilot Schools. Tested strategies will be used to measure student progress and report to the community. NAZ is committed to program accountability and takes a no-tolerance position on poor student achievement. This initiative has been generously funded by NorthWay Community Trust |
