Art AND the art of politicsNorthWay is hosting a meet-and-greet for the Northside artists – Richard Amos, Connie Beckers, Bill Cottman, Jan Marx, Rachel Orman and Vivienne Patton – whose works are on display at our 1501 W. Broadway offices. The reception, open to the public, will be held on Tuesday, July 18 from 5-6 p.m., just prior to the Northside Neighborhood Alliance (NNA) meeting, which also takes place at NorthWay. NNA, a consortium of nine Northside organizations, will meet from 6:00-8:30 p.m. to create a friendly dialogue and working relationship with our elected officials. Council Members Barbara Johnson, Don Samuels and Diane Hofstede have been invited to come and support strategies to build a stronger partnership between North Minneapolis and the City of Minneapolis. NNA has been working hard over the past several months to develop strategies that will enable Northside communities to have a more focused approach to address community issues. The meeting will also create the opportunity to determine mutually agreed upon objectives that will enhance livability for all of North Minneapolis. For more information, contact Wesley Walker. |
