Market study can provide economic advantage

Penny

North Minneapolis has a wealth of business opportunities and untapped market potential. To help bring these opportunities into focus, the Regional Strategy Group will undertake a Northside market analysis to get the information needed to develop a business plan and set priorities. The study will concentrate on retail development, as well as commercial real estate, light industry and emerging fields such as biotechnology. Two market study specialists have submitted proposals; one will be selected by February. The Regional Strategy Group is composed of representatives from neighborhood organizations in North Minneapolis.

Deadline soon!

Community

Organizations that submitted proposals in November 2005 should hear soon about partnership investments. The next round of applications is due February 3. NorthWay Community Trust invites organizations to submit community partnership proposals that will benefit North Minneapolis. The NorthWay Board Investment Committee, made up of Fred LeFleur (chairperson), Brian Smith, Macey Wheeler and Patricia Torres Ray, makes partnership investment decisions.

THE REV. ALBERT GALLMON, JR.

Rev. Gallmon, pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in the McKinley Neighborhood, serves as Vice President of the NorthWay Board of Directors.

Why NorthWay?

NorthWay is a novel approach to creating community. The organization strives to create collaborations throughout the Northside, causing people of diverse backgrounds and races, and across neighborhood boundaries lines to think outside the box concerning the creation of a healthier Northside.

NorthWay truly is a breath of fresh air, bolstered by the Northwest Area Foundation. I am proud to be a participant in what I see as one of the greatest ideas toward developing the entire North community I have seen in my 10 years living and ministering in this community.

Hobbies/interests
